Tamera Coyne-Beasley, M.D., MPH, professor and division director in the Division of Adolescent Medicine and vice-chair for Community Engagement, has been elected to the American Pediatric Society (APS) Council. Dr. Coyne-Beasley will serve as council member from 2021 to 2026. She joins Wally Carlo, M.D., professor and division director in the Division of Neonatology, who is also on the council and will end his term in 2024.
“As a council member, I will work diligently to advance career development, advocacy, and equity priorities,” said Dr. Coyne-Beasley. She will also work to increase the pediatric subspecialty workforce.
Dr. Coyne-Beasley has been an APS member since 2013 and has served on the Committee on Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity (CODIE). She has also been a contributing author on the APS Racism Series: At the Intersection of Equity, Science and Social Justice, and played an integral part in the production of the APS Town Hall Forums.
