The 2023 Central Alabama Pride Parade was held on Saturday, June 10 in downtown Birmingham. Many organizations, businesses and community partners participated in the parade including Heersink School of Medicine and the UAB Department of Pediatrics.

“About 50 Department of Pediatrics residents, fellows, and faculty, along with spouses and progeny, joined a unified Heersink School of Medicine entourage marching in the largest ever Central Alabama Pride Parade,” said Morissa Ladinksy, M.D., professor in the Division of Academic General Pediatrics and organizer of the department’s participation in the parade. “The energy, joy and fun were simply incredible.”

Participants in the parade carried signs and tossed out beads and other items to the crowd watching the parade.
