Interests
Our laboratory’s main interests revolve around perinatal morbidity. With a combination of analyzing specimens form human subjects, conducting experiments in animal models and by using cellular and molecular approaches we investigate complications of pregnancy, such as preeclampsia and fetal growth restriction, and we perform research on neonatal complications of premature birth, such as necrotizing enterocolitis and bronchopulmonary dysplasia. These studies address genetic predisposition to these conditions, they elude to epigenetic mechanisms of disease pathogenesis and they speak to the cellular signaling mechanisms that underlie these diseases.
