The UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Oncology Section, supported by Herrick Siegel, M.D., seeks to further the boundaries of known cancer research for muscoloskeletal oncology. It is one of the busiest centers in the Southeast for the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant bone and soft tissue tumors. It employs cutting edge techniques and prosthetic devices to maximize functional outcomes and the patient's quality of life. The center has performed hundreds of successful limb salvage surgeries using the most advanced orthopaedic implants available.
The center's research aims to support these clinical endeavors, improving orthopaedic surgical oncology procedures for patients across the nation.
