The mission of the program is to provide advanced training to fellows in the clinical and surgical care of patients with infertility, early pregnancy loss, and/or reproductive endocrine disorders in an environment focused on compassionate and evidence-based care.
The program also strives to instruct and mentor fellows in conducting quality improvement, process improvement, and high-impact research.
Objectives
- To foster mentored growth in the responsibility of fellows over the three-year program through experiences in continuity clinic, surgical care of patients, didactic presentations to trainees, and research with residents as co-investigators.
- To provide a well-funded and resource-rich environment for fellows to conduct innovative molecular, translational, and clinical research.
- To offer a balanced experience for fellows in clinical care of patients with reproductive endocrinopathies, surgical care of reproductive disorders, and assisted reproductive approaches to patients with infertility.
- To provide a collegial, well-networked community of consultants in reproductive urology, embryology, genetics, pediatric, medical, and neuroendocrinology, maternal-fetal medicine, and pediatric and adolescent gynecology provides a dynamic multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
- To provide structured didactics, simulation, journal article reviews and research updates at the Division and Department levels provides a comprehensive learning environment for fellows.
- To offer programs for uterine transplantation, ovarian tissue cryopreservation, and reproductive genetics provides fellows with exposure to pioneering treatments in reproductive medicine.
Structure of the Fellowship
A three-year fellowship program in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility is structured to provide each fellow with broad-based experience in all the clinical and research aspects of REI.
- First year of fellows are introduced to the clinical practice of REI and IVF and participate in clinical rotations on the male infertility, medical and pediatric endocrinology, and clinical genetics services.
- The second year of fellowship is dedicated to understanding and performing thesis-level research. Fellows leverage basic science, translations, and/or clinic research methods to address current knowledge gaps.
- Third year fellows participate in the delivery of REI, reproductive surgical, and IVF care in roles of increasing responsibility with appropriate faculty supervision.

Fellow Resources
Medical Education
Friday REI Fellow Didactic (Weekly 1:30-2:30 p.m.)
REI didactics are scheduled based on a two-year recurring cycle (Schedule A and B) and include multidisciplinary, inter-professional topics devoted to the care of reproductive endocrinology and infertility patients. The content is based on the ABOG Blueprint used to define specific topics, clinical competencies, and knowledge areas that form the basis of the Qualifying and Certifying Exams of the REI Specialty.
Tuesday REI Case-based learning session (2nd Tuesday of each month, 7:30 -8:00 a.m.)
These sessions utilize interactive clinical scenarios to improve diagnosis, management confidence, and retention of core concepts.
Tuesday Genetics lecture (2nd Tuesday of each month, 3:30-4:30 p.m.)
The Genetics lectures focus on applying genetic principles to infertility, prenatal screening, and reproductive technologies. These sessions highlight how advanced genomics improves IVF outcomes and personalized patient care.
Tuesday Resident-Student Conference (3rd Tuesday (REI) 7:00-8:00 a.m.):
The third Tuesday of each month, the fellows alternate with division faculty in leading a 30-45min lecture or interactive discussion on a wide array of REI-specific topics. These lectures are attended by both the rotating REI fellows and GYN residents. The intent of the lecture series is to provide fellows with teaching/learning experiences while covering the CORE Curriculum Objectives outlined by CREOG for residents. Presentations and Interactive Conferences presented by fellows are evaluated by faculty and residents in the audience.
Wednesday Journal Club (3rd Wednesday of each month 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m.)
Journal Club is a fellow-led session to critically evaluate and discuss peer-reviewed REI articles to promote evidence-based practice, to keep members informed on new research, and to build critical appraisal skills for analyzing research studies. This session is attended by all faculty and staff in the REI division and anyone else interested.
Friday OB/GYN Department Morbidity and Mortality Conference and Grand Rounds (12:30-1:30 p.m.-lunch is provided)
These conferences are held weekly. They are interactive and include REI topics approximately 20% of the time. Fellows must attend unless the fellow is unable to leave an ongoing surgical case.
NOTE: 5th Fridays of the month are deemed Fellow Wellness time. This incorporates four half days of leave available for the fellow to participate in any wellness activity that best suits their individual needs.
