Call for nominations

The Heersink School of Medicine Dean’s Office invites nominations for the 2025 James A. Pittman, Jr., M.D. Scholars, which will support the recruitment and retention of up to five highly competitive junior faculty members. The Pittman Scholars program aims to identify and nurture tomorrow’s best physicians and scientists and reward their efforts with additional resources that support their goals. Pittman Scholars will receive additional funding to support their research-related activities or scholarly enrichment.

Pittman Scholars, named for the late James A. Pittman, MD, longtime dean of the School of Medicine from 1973 to 1992, are nominated by their department chairs based on their research achievements and their potential for continued discovery in the basic or clinical sciences.

Awardees are assistant professors who have held that rank for fewer than five years.
