The Riesenberg Lab is led by Lee Ann Riesenberg, Ph.D., R.N., C.M.Q.

Dr. Riesenberg conducts medical education outcomes research. Her degrees include: Registered Nurse from St. John’s Nursing School, Springfield, MO (1977), a bachelor’s in psychology from Loyola University, Chicago, IL (1988), a Master’s in Health Care Administration from the New School for Social Research, New York, NY (1996), and a Ph.D. in higher education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (2004). She received the Medical Education Research Certificate (MERC), from the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) in 2006 and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Open School for Health Professions Basic Level certification in 2010.

Dr. Riesenberg has worked in medical education for the past 30 years; has received numerous recognition awards for her dedication to medical education and quality improvement in graduate medical education; and has published over 60 peer-reviewed manuscripts. Her primary research areas of interest are systematic reviews of the literature, patient handoffs and transitions of care, procedure skills checklist validation, and other medical education outcomes.
