Our Communities
Live HealthSmart Alabama’s most important partners are community members, and helping the community starts with listening. Before work begins in a community, Live HealthSmart Alabama teams work to understand and collaboratively address a community’s barriers and needs.
Making good health simple means developing a sustainable and comprehensive plan that can be implemented in cities throughout the state. To test our model, we began in four designated neighborhoods: Bush Hills, East Lake, Kingston, and Titusville. UAB’s campus was designated as the first university pilot.
Selma
Building on the success in Birmingham, and through generous funding from Novo Nordisk, we are expanding programs and services to other areas of the state. Selma, in Dallas County, is the first expansion site for LHSA.
Bush Hills
In collaboration with Bush Hills Connections and other important partners, Live HealthSmart Alabama is working to meet the needs of the Bush Hills community.
East Lake
East Lake, once a family-friendly spot that was home to a zoo, ferris wheel, fishing, and boat rides, was designed to get people outside and moving. The neighborhood aims to reclaim that vision.
Kingston
Joining forces with Kingston residents, the neighborhood association, and local businesses, we helped bring life back to a space where community members can learn and play.
Titusville
Live HealthSmart Alabama and its partners are working to bring increased access to prevention and wellness, physical activity, and healthy eating back to Titusville.
UAB Campus
With its customizable nature, Live HealthSmart Alabama has taken its signature keys and implemented healthy initiatives at all levels of the institution.
