Employee Assistance & Counseling Center

The UAB Employee Assistance and Counseling Center offers individual, couples and family counseling to help employees and their immediate household members resolve work-related and personal problems. UAB, UAB Medicine and VIVA Health employees are eligible for up to 15 free counseling sessions per year.

The EACC staff includes counselors specializing in marriage and family counseling, play therapy, group counseling, alcohol and drug abuse aftercare, critical incident stress management, aging and caregiver issues, employee assistance, career counseling, art therapy and more.

Counseling sessions are designed to help you identify and resolve problems related but not limited to:

  • Relationship or family problems
  • Work or home related stress
  • Depression, mood swings and anxiety
  • Grief, loss and loneliness
  • Alcohol and drug abuse aftercare
  • Work-life balance
  • LGBTQ issues
  • Chronic illness support
  • Communication problems and more
