International observers/ shadowers, graduate students, teachers, speakers, and scholars who come to UAB in non-credit or degree earning status are considered International Visiting Scholars. UAB International employees or postdocs are not included in this category. These international visitors can be funded by themselves, UAB, their home government, or any combination thereof.

As part of a comprehensive and campus-wide process, the admission of an international visiting scholar starts with an offer from a UAB faculty who will serve as host and then involves submission, review and approval of documentation necessary for on- and off-boarding according to applicable UAB policies and procedures.
