What is EXCEL?
EXCEL is the School of Dentistry’s signature investment in the growth of our people. Faculty and staff come together for structured professional development designed to strengthen skills, encourage collaboration, and support continuous improvement across our academic and clinical missions.
Through schoolwide conferences and department-based programming, participants engage with expert speakers, practical training, and topics that support patient care, education, research, leadership, and workplace effectiveness. Some offerings qualify for Continuing Education (CE) credit.
How It Works
Each year, the school dedicates time for two major EXCEL conferences - one in the fall and one in the spring - when regular operations are adjusted so faculty and staff can focus fully on learning, connection, and institutional priorities.
At additional points during the year, the school closes for a half day so departments can conduct their own calibration and development sessions. These focused programs help ensure consistency in clinical standards, reinforce patient safety practices, and maintain alignment across academic and operational areas.
