About the College of Arts and Sciences
As the largest academic unit at UAB, we offer more than 40 baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral degrees, as well as a wide range of certificates and minors.
Through our 19 departments, five centers and institutes, and numerous shared programs, we pursue goals and objectives related to our three strategic pillars: Student Success; Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities; and Community Engagement.
To ensure Student Success, the College provides students with excellent teaching and mentoring to support their timely graduation. Through our second pillar—Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities—we aim to support our faculty, staff, and students as they conduct impactful research, scholarship, and creative pursuits. Our final pillar, Community Engagement, reflects our commitment to creating meaningful opportunities alongside community partners that produce mutually beneficial outcomes.
