Three scholarships have been created for the purpose of assisting academically talented and deserving students who are majoring in African American Studies achieve their goals.
Ida B. Wells Scholarship Award
Amount: $1,000
Awarded to a junior African American Studies major who has excelled academically and desires to pursue further studies in African American Studies or a related field.
African American Studies Director’s Scholarship Award
Amount: $1,000
Helps support deserving students for whom affordability may be a problem and who might be unable to attend the University without some assistance. To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be currently enrolled, a declared African American Studies major, and demonstrate financial need and academic achievement and promise. The first Scholarship was awarded in 2018.
African American Studies Book Scholarship
Amount: $500
Given to an incoming freshman or sophomore to assist in the purchase of books and supplies. To be eligible, students must be freshmen who have declared African American Studies as a major.
