If you attended our third Picnic on the Green, you'll know it was attended in record numbers! It was a beautiful day with live jazz music, Full Moon BBQ, updates from Staff Council Chair David Rhodes, and an address by university President Dr. Ray L. Watts.
Friends and co-workers heard about Staff Council initiative successes such as "Be Seen in Green", the new street banners along University Blvd, and the Blazer Kitchen Toiletries Drive that is currently happening campus-wide. They also learned about new construction plans for campus, new parking decks, new stoplight updates, and praise for the exciting return of football.
Ginger Hattway, the inaugural Chair and recent recipient, was honored both for her service on the Staff Council (which continues this year, as Past Chair) and as this year's recipient of the UAB President's Award for Excellence in Support of UAB and Shared Governance.
Comment cards were available for all staff to leave ideas and suggestions, however if you missed the opportunity to leave a suggestion please visit our website to leave a comment or suggest an idea through Spark. Suggestions are welcomed year-round from all staff and can be anonymous.
