The Undergraduate Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health trains students to evaluate and improve health and safety conditions in industrial, commercial, and government settings. With a focus on minimizing workplace hazards and ensuring a wide range of environments comply with regulatory standards, this program explores occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene practices, toxicology, and hazard assessment. Students will be able to assess exposures to contaminants, physical hazards, poor ergonomics, and unsafe practices.

With this certificate, offered by the Department of Environmental Health Science within the School of Public Health, students will learn to:

  • apply effective control methods
  • implement safety procedures and policies
  • analyze workplace behaviors, environments, and protective systems
  • ensure compliance with national occupational safety and health regulations

Admission Requirements

  • Enrolled as an undergraduate student or by approval
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Statement of purpose
