The UAB SHP Research Collaborative
We address health equity for people with disabilities through a scientifically sound, interdisciplinary inclusion science framework that reduces ableism both within the UAB campus and across the entire nation.
The Collaborative, led by Dr. James Rimmer, is headquartered at the UAB WHARF (Wellness, Health And Research Facility), located on the campus of the Lakeshore Foundation. The WHARF employs a mix of full and part time employees, researchers and postdocs as well as both undergraduate and graduate students.
Our group includes centers such as NCHPAD, RecTech and CEDHARS – home of the UAB Adaptive Human Performance Lab. In addition to these centers, professors, partners and other leading disability experts throughout UAB and across the country partner with the Research Collaborative on programs, research, education and other projects.
By recruiting an inclusive array of students, faculty, staff and researchers, the UAB SHP Research Collaborative is positioned to become one of the strongest agents for promoting health equity in children and adults with disability in the U.S. and world.
