UAB is offering three daily seminars to help employees better understand, plan for and boost their savings during America Saves Week, Feb. 26-28. The seminars, open to all UAB, UAB Medicine, VIVA employees, are presented by UAB’s Employee Assistance & Counseling Center.
America Saves Week is an annual initiative that encourages Americans to save money, reduce debt and build wealth over time.
Even people with no savings will find helpful resources and motivation in these presentations, said Julie Knight, a financial wellness specialist with EACC.
“A little education and a lot of encouragement and support inspires you to start telling your money what it can do better,” Knight said.
This year’s event will feature webinars from the UAB’s Regions Institute of Financial Education and three on-campus EACC Financial Wellness seminars:
-
"Saving for Retirement" Part I on Feb. 26 is led by Alabama Social Security Public Affairs Specialist Tony Birdsong.
-
“Saving for Retirement” Part II is hosted in conjunction with Regions Financial Fundamentals is Feb. 27, and
-
“Power Up Your Savings” hosted in conjunction with Legacy Credit Union is Feb. 28.
All three seminars are noon-1 p.m.; register online at uab.edu/learn.
