“Regular physical activity is good for our hearts, bodies and minds,” said Employee Wellness Manager Emily Davidson. “Just going for a simple walk is one of the best ways to boost your mood and reduce stress.”

During the first week in April, Employee Wellness is partnering with the UAB Recreation Center to encourage UAB faculty and staff to increase their activity during the workday. The week of March 31 through April 4, the walking track at the Rec Center will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for employees who want to take a break from their desk and get their steps in.

To gain free access to the track, employees are asked to stop by the front desk and sign a liability waiver if they are not a current member.

Members of the UAB community who want to get some fresh air along with their exercise can explore the UAB Walking Trails at any time. The trails feature eight routes across the medical and academic campus offering a variety of distances, both indoors and out, that make it convenient to incorporate physical activity into your work day, rain or shine.
