UAB's Center for the Study of Community Health is accepting applications for its initiative to facilitate community-based, participatory research by faculty.
As many as three one-year awards of $30,000 each will be made for projects that address health issues directly relevant to Birmingham communities. A project may be from any discipline on campus as long as it meets the criteria posted online.
A letter of intent is requested by Oct. 1. Applications are due Nov. 3. Award notifications will be made Dec. 1, with a start date of Jan. 1, 2015.
Since 2008, the center has funded 15 Community Health Scholar Awards totaling more than $425,000 to conduct community-based participatory research projects. Junior faculty representing six schools and 11 departments have partnered with 24 community agencies to plan and conduct their research.
