Hollis named chief financial officer at UAB

Andy HollisAndy Hollis has been named UAB's chief financial officer, effective March 1. Hollis, a UAB alumnus who has worked at UAB for almost 20 years, currently serves an interim CFO and associate vice president for Financial Affairs.

“With the changing landscapes for institutions of higher education, I could not think of anyone better to serve UAB in the role of CFO than Andy,” said Stephanie Mullins, vice president for Strategic Initiatives and interim vice president for Finance at UAB. “His belief in and commitment to UAB’s mission and vision are evident in his daily work.”

UAB President Ray L. Watts says Hollis is ideally suited to serve as UAB’s CFO.

“Andy has provided outstanding leadership in every role he has undertaken in his nearly two decades at UAB,” Watts said. “We know Andy’s exceptional skills in fiscal management and strategic data analysis will continue to help drive UAB’s financial prosperity.”

Hollis has held many roles at UAB and led key initiatives, including significant contributions to the Budget Advisory Committee, the Campus Planning and Facilities Advisory Committee, and the design and implementation of the Responsibility Centered Management budget model.

“I am honored to be able to serve my alma mater in such a significant way,” Hollis said. “Ensuring the financial health of UAB requires dedication and strategic oversight. I am prepared to embrace the complexities and responsibilities of this role.”

Hollis earned his Bachelor of Accounting degree in 1998 and Master of Accounting degree in 2013 from the UAB Collat School of Business. He joined UAB Athletics in 2005 after spending time with Barfield, Murphy, Shank and Smith PC.
