UAB is initiating a national search for its next provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs to replace Pam Benoit, Ph.D., who announced she will retire at the end of 2023.
School of Optometry Dean Kelly Nichols and Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration Brian Burnett will chair the search committee, which represents a diverse set of stakeholders:

- Bradley Barnes, vice provost for enrollment management
- Tika Benveniste, senior vice dean for research, Heersink School of Medicine

- Katie Crenshaw, chief risk and compliance officer
- Paulette Dilworth, vice president of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
- Jeff Holmes, dean, School of Engineering
- John Jones, vice president, Student Affairs
- Joe March, Faculty Senate
- Shadi Martin, dean, UAB Graduate School
- Karolina Muktar, chair, Department of Biology
- Rhea Pandit, Student Government Association
- Josie Prado, Faculty Senate
- Kecia Thomas, dean, College of Arts and Sciences
