UAB and UAB Medicine employees will receive two extra holidays at the year’s end.
This year, Christmas and New Year’s Day occur on Tuesdays, which are scheduled holidays. In addition to Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, 2019, President Ray Watts and Health System CEO Will Ferniany have decided to observe two additional holidays Monday, Dec. 24 and Monday, Dec. 31 to provide employees additional time to spend with their families.
UAB continues to make tremendous strides in all areas of our mission because of the outstanding work its employees do every day, Watts said. “I appreciate your hard work and dedication to making UAB a world-renowned university and academic medical center. I hope you enjoy this additional time to relax and celebrate the holidays with family and friends. It is much deserved.”
As with all UAB holidays, most campus operations will be suspended; but essential services will continue. Managers should provide employees advance notice of the holiday work schedule, and employees of UAB Hospital, UAB Police, UAB Call Center and units that receive personal holidays instead of designated ones should check with their supervisors regarding staffing. UAB’s holiday schedule is available online.
