Open enrollment for the Voluntary Employee Life and Voluntary Spouse Life insurances

rep oe24 life 550pxThe Standard Insurance Company is offering a true open enrollment for 2025 Voluntary Employee Life and Voluntary Spouse Life insurance elections as part of UAB's annual open enrollment for benefits Oct. 18-Nov. 4. Below are the details by line of coverage:

  • Voluntary Employee Life – Employees who are not currently enrolled or who are enrolled for an amount less than the fully guaranteed issue (GI) can elect coverage up to the GI without submitting medical evidence, even if they previously submitted an Evidence of Insurability (EOI) form and were declined.  All amounts over the GI are still subject to medical evidence. 
  • Voluntary Spouse Life – Members who are not currently enrolled for Voluntary Spouse Life or who are enrolled for an amount less than the fully guaranteed issue (GI) can elect coverage up to the GI without their Spouse having to submit medical evidence, even if their Spouse previously submitted an Evidence of Insurability (EOI) form and was declined.  All amounts over the GI are still subject to medical evidence.  Voluntary Employee Life coverage is required to enroll in the Voluntary Spouse Life Insurance.
