Here are five options to keep in mind for your next night out—no need to break the bank:

  1. Attend a discounted or free UAB Arts event: The Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts (AEIVA) is open to the public Tuesday-Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. and features free art exhibitions and events. Students and employees can enjoy the everchanging visual arts gallery or attend a lecture or special event. For performing arts, the Alys Stephens Center offers a limited supply of $10 student tickets to most performances, and employees can receive $15 off up to two tickets for select performances.
  2. Try something new at the Campus Recreation Center: The Campus Rec Center offers plenty of opportunities to have fun, stay active, and maybe even get out of your comfort zone. Test out your skills at the climbing wall, reserve a spot on the pickleball courts, or have an indoor pool day. While students’ membership is included in tuition, employees are eligible for a one-week free trial membership, can pay a $10 guest fee for one-day access, or sign up for a discounted membership.
  3. Cheer for the Blazers at a UAB sporting event: Show your spirit at UAB Athletics games. Full-time students are admitted free to all sporting events with a valid OneCard; employees are eligible for a 10% discount on season tickets for both men’s basketball and football. Other single game discounts may become available throughout the season as well, so be sure to subscribe to Blazer Mail, the official email of UAB Athletics, for updates.
  4. Support Theatre UAB at an On Stage performance: Enjoy this year’s season of productions put on by UAB’s Department of Theatre. Make plans to attend upcoming productions such as The Revolutionists or She Kills Monsters. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for employees.
  5. Learn how to 3D print with UAB Libraries: Take advantage of a free 3D printing training and learn this unique skill. Offered at Lister Hill Library, the Introductory 3D Printer Training is a hands-on workshop that teaches beginners safety requirements, UAB Libraries 3D printing guidelines, and more. Once participants have completed training, you can enjoy using the 3D printing machine. Both students and employees can print for free.

Be sure to check the Campus Calendar for specific events.
