At Alabama’s No. 1 ranked nursing school, the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing, leadership is in the faculty’s DNA. This leadership extends to the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties Board of Directors, where Professor and Associate Dean for Graduate Clinical Education Aimee Holland, DNP, WHNP-BC, FNP-C, FAANP, FAAN (DNP 2012), has been re-elected as Treasurer for a second term.
“I am honored to be elected again,” Holland said. “This role allows me to help advance competency-based education and ensure NP programs prepare competent, practice-ready providers. My service as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner with the National Health Service Corps opened my eyes to the essential components needed for NP practice to care for patients, particularly those in rural and medically underserved communities.”
Holland has been on the NONPF Board of Directors since 2022 and will serve another two-year term. In 2016, she received the inaugural NONPF Rising Star Faculty award.
Holland also has been honored by other professional organizations for her work in the school and nationally. Holland was elected to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health in 2013 and served a six-year term as Chair-elect (2016-2017), Chair (2018-2019) and Past Chair (2020-2021). In 2022, Holland was the recipient of the NPWH Inspiration Award for Policy. In 2021, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners recognized her with the Alabama Award of Excellence – Nurse Practitioner.
Holland is a 2012 UAB School of Nursing Doctor of Nursing Practice graduate.
“I am grateful for the strong leaders, mentors and teams I have had the privilege to learn from and serve with who have helped prepare me for this leadership role. I am honored to continue this service at the national level representing the UAB School of Nursing,” Holland said.
Holland is a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the American Academy of Nursing, and was named a UAB School of Nursing Visionary Leader in 2021. She also was an invited member to the National Task Force that published the sixth edition of the Standards for Quality Nurse Practitioner Education and served on the LACE Group and the ASCCP workgroup that published the 2019 ASCCP Risk-Based Management Consensus Guidelines for Cervical Screening Abnormalities.
