BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama at Birmingham will celebrate Homecoming 2010 with a fun-filled week packed with more than 50 events for students, alumni and the community. A full listing of all scheduled alumni and student Homecoming 2010 events at UAB is online at www.uab.edu/news. Here are this year's highlights:
Sunday, Oct. 31
- Paint the Town, Hill University Center, 1400 University Blvd. Students will kick off Homecoming Week at 2 p.m.; groups will paint local business storefronts and decorate cars with car chalk.
Monday, Nov. 1
- Blazer Blowout carnival, 6-10 p.m., UAB Mini Park, corner of 14th Street South and University Boulevard. The event includes the Blazer Hustle scavenger hunt and spirit competition, 7-9 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 3
- Gurney Derby, a UAB Homecoming tradition, noon, 13th Street South
- Green and Gold Games with three-legged races, sack races and more
1 p.m., UAB Mini Park, corner of 14th Street South and University Boulevard - School of Business: Pie-in-a-Professor's Face, 3-4:30 p.m., Business-Engineering Complex Courtyard, 1150 10th Ave. South
- Annual Homecoming Stompdown song, dance and skit competition, 7 p.m., UAB Campus Recreation Center, 1501 University Blvd.
Thursday, Nov. 4
- Blaze the Night Bonfire & Fight Song Competition, 7 p.m., UAB Mini Park
Friday, Nov. 4
- Annual UAB Homecoming Parade, noon, UAB Campus
Saturday, Nov. 5
- Tailgating, parties, giveaways and more at Blazer Village, 1 p.m., with UAB vs. Marshall Homecoming Football Game, 3 p.m., Legion Field. For details on free shuttle buses to and from the game, click here.
