BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees appointed University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Education faculty member Cecilia Pierce, Ed.D., associate professor emeritus during its June 18 meeting.
Pierce, who retired in October 2009 from the UAB Department of Curriculum and Instruction, was a co-developer of Project Alabama Teacher Training and Induction Network (ATTAIN) and trained more than 100 teacher mentors for urban school systems.
Pierce joined UAB in 1990 as an assistant professor. She became associate professor in 1996. She served on several departmental, school and university committees, including the Undergraduate Program Committee, the Undergraduate Policies and Procedures Committee and the Secondary Education Program Committee.
