The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) BookTalk book club will begin a new season with a discussion on Louise Erdrich’s novel “The Painted Drum.” The UAB BookTalk meeting will be held 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, in the Mervyn H. Sterne Library, Henley Room, Second Floor, 917 13th St. S. The discussion will be led by UAB Assistant Professor Gale Temple, Ph.D.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) BookTalk book club will begin a new season with a discussion on Louise Erdrich's novel "The Painted Drum." The UAB BookTalk meeting will be held 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, in the Mervyn H. Sterne Library, Henley Room, Second Floor, 917 13th St. S. The discussion will be led by UAB Assistant Professor Gale Temple, Ph.D.

Admission to UAB BookTalk is free and open to the public. The meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month during the academic year in the Mervyn H. Sterne Library, Henley Room. For more details, call the UAB Department of English at 205-934-4250.

The fall schedule will include discussions on Colson Whitehead's novel "The Intuitionist" on Oct. 7, "Oral History" by Lee Smith on Nov. 4 and "Bombay Time" by Thrity Umrigar on Dec. 2.
