BIRMINGHAM, AL — Judges of the Helen Keller International Art Show 2001 have announced the winners selected to tour the country as part of an international exhibition. Judges picked the 30 winning selections from more than 100 pieces of artwork created by blind and visually impaired children from all over the world.
The exhibit will be displayed at the International Council for Exceptional Children in Kansas City, Missouri, in April; the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. this summer; Texas Tech University in September and in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives offices in Washington, D.C. for a full year beginning in October.
The winning selections will be on display at UAB in the lobby of the Worrell Building, 924 18th St. S., until April 5. The public is invited to view the exhibit of multimedia works until it leaves for its national tour.
The art show and tour are sponsored by the UAB Vision Science Research Center, the UAB Schools of Optometry and Education and the International Council for Exceptional Children, Division on Visual Impairments.
