BIRMINGHAM, AL — Peggy Crews Delmas, a native of Laurel Hill, Florida, has been named as an Outstanding Advisor for 2001 by the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).

The NACADA awards are presented to individuals who have demonstrated qualities associated with the outstanding academic advising of students. Delmas, who is director of student services for the UAB School of Education, was selected as an outstanding advisor in the “Advising Primary Role” category. The category includes individuals whose primary role at a university is the direct delivery of advising services to students.

Delmas is one of eight advisors in the nationwide competition to be honored this year. She will be presented with the award in Ottawa, Ontario during the annual NACADA national conference in October.

The more than 6,000 NACADA members consist of faculty, professional advisors, administrators, counselors and others in academic and student affairs who are concerned with the intellectual, personal and vocational needs of students. The NACADA also represents academic advisors and serves as an advocate for academic advising.
