BIRMINGHAM, AL — Dr. Greg Alexander, professor and chair of the department of maternal and child health with the School of Public Health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, has received the 2001 Advancing Knowledge Award sponsored by the Coalition for Excellence in Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology.
The award, which recognizes excellence in research, practice and leadership in the field, was presented to Alexander recently during the seventh annual Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology Conference.

We were pleased to recognize the impact that he and his contributions have made to the health of women, children and families.”
The coalition represents 13 national health organizations, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the American Public Health Association.
