BIRMINGHAM, AL — The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) announced that the University of Alabama at Birmingham Substance Abuse Program’s (UABSAP) Methadone Clinic has been accredited for a period of three years for its opioid treatment program. This is the first accreditation that the international accrediting commission has awarded to the UABSAP Methadone Clinic.

This accreditation outcome represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization. The three-year accreditation is awarded after an institution has engaged in a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality.

The UABSAP Methadone Clinic is a non-profit organization located at 401 Beacon Parkway West, Birmingham, 35209. It has been providing opioid treatment services in the Birmingham area since 1975.
