Talks, poetry and music
UAB Mervyn Sterne Library, Henley Room
Sponsored by the UAB Black Graduate Student Association, the event will focus on HIV/AIDS as a global health problem — from halfway around the world to here at home.
Pauline Jolly, Ph.D., professor with the Department of Epidemiology in the School of Public Health at UAB, will talk about HIV/AIDS from an international perspective. Dana Ross, Ph.D., assistant professor of medicine with UAB’s Division of Preventive Medicine and director of Psychology Services with UAB’s 1917 AIDS Outpatient Clinic, will discuss HIV/AIDS from a local angle.
Pamela Plummer, a public health doctoral candidate in the Department of Health Behavior, will recite a poem she wrote. La Toya Haskins Cathéy, administrative associate with UAB’s Office of Grants and Contracts, will perform a musical selection.

Sponsored by the HIV Prevention Network, a consortium of clinics, organizations and individuals, the event will celebrate the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS and those who have died from the disease.
