University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) associate professor James R. Jones, P.E., received the designation of associate professor emeritus by the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees during its September 15 meeting

BIRMINGHAM, AL — University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) associate professor James R. Jones, P.E., received the designation of associate professor emeritus by the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees during its September 15 meeting.

The board recognized Jones for his distinguished service to UAB since joining the faculty in 1981, including his research in power systems and energy management that has resulted in millions of dollars in research funding and employment for numerous minority and other students in several fields of engineering.

In addition to his research, Jones is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Industrial Applications Society, National Fire Protection Association and Underwriters Laboratory.
