BIRMINGHAM, AL — Russell S. Kirby, Ph.D., professor and vice chair of the Department of Maternal and Child Health in the School of Public Health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, has been awarded the 2005 President’s Award by the National Birth Defects Prevention Network (NBDPN).
The award was presented at the organization’s annual meeting February 1 in Arlington, Virginia. It is given to an individual in recognition of significant contributions to the NBDPN’s mission and goals.
Kirby, a founder of the NBDPN, served as its first president in 1999 and has served in numerous leadership roles including editor of the annual report since 2002 and chair of the Annual Meeting Planning Committee for 2005, 2006 and 2007.
