William J. Britt, M.D., University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) professor of pediatrics, will chair the Clinical Research and Field Studies of Infectious Diseases Study (CRFS) Section, Center for Scientific Review. The CRFS section reviews National Institutes of Health grant applications that address population-based studies on the emergence, spread, control and prevention of infectious diseases that affect humans.
Britt’s laboratory at UAB has focused its efforts on two important aspects of the biology of herpes viruses: virus assembly and the pathogenesis of human cytomegalovirus infections. Britt joined the faculty in the Department of Pediatrics in 1983. In 2002 he was named the Charles Alford Chair in Pediatric Infectious Diseases.
Britt will serve a two-year term ending June 30, 2015.
