Jalie A. Tucker, Ph.D., M.P.H., professor and chair of the Department of Health Behavior in the UAB School of Public Health, has been elected to the American Psychological Association Board of Scientific Affairs for a three-year term. Tucker serves as the BSA member for health psychology/public health.
As a board member, Tucker will travel to the annual Science Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. This year’s theme for the event is “Psychological Science and Substance Abuse,” and recovery from substance misuse is Tucker’s major area of expertise and research funding. She has served the APA Division on Addiction Psychology in numerous roles since 1993, including as president and as a four-term division representative to the Council of Representatives, the governing body of the APA.
