The UAB Department of Music Therapy and UAB Institute for Arts in Medicine will host a lunch and learn Monday, Nov. 9.
The event, titled “The arts and healing: the benefits of music therapy and the arts in health care,” will begin at noon at the West Pavilion Conference Center, Room D. This event is open to all UAB staff, patients and guests. The first 50 participants to arrive will receive a free boxed lunch.
The two programs also have partnered to offer a month of arts-based programs to enhance the healing environment for staff, patients and guests. These events include yoga classes, concerts, creative writing classes and much more.
The UAB Institute for Arts in Medicine is a program that encourages healing through the arts. The first and only one of its kind in Alabama, AIM provides engaging arts opportunities to patients, caregivers and clinical staff to enhance their physical environment through creative bedside interaction, art exhibits and performances in common spaces.
