More than $55,000 was raised to fund a young cancer researcher at UAB during the fifth annual Fiesta Ball hosted by the Young Supporters Board of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center. The success of the May 5 event marks the first time the Young Supporters Board will be able to fully fund its young investigator grant without assistance from the center.
The Young Supporters Board was established in 2006 and comprises Birmingham professionals ages 25-34. Their mission is to raise funds and awareness for the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, the only “comprehensive” cancer center as designated by the National Cancer Institute in a five-state region.
