Presented by the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center, this Young Concert Artist performance is free and open to the public with advance registration.
Broberg, winner of the 2021 American Pianists Award, will perform works by Medtner, Fauré and Schumann.
The all-department concert will feature solo and ensemble performances, including choral, band, piano, voice, computer music and chamber music.
Students in the Department of Art and Art History got a pinstriping tutorial from Michael Swann of Swann Graphics, then applied their talents to the black Ford Ranger, which will be donated to WBHM 90.3 FM.
The American period piece is entertainment “on a grand scale.” Alumnus Luke Harlan helped to shape the sumptuous new series and he credits the UAB Department of Theatre, where he learned many of his skills.
The event will feature a tour and Bayberry String Quartet performing works by Mozart and Prokofiev in conjunction with the current AEIVA exhibition “Lily Reeves: Between Futures.”
Inspired by the myth of Echo and Narcissus, the new work was created by alumna Rebecca Jones and shaped through a residency on her family’s farm, a 2021 UAB Department of Theatre staged reading, and collaboration with faculty, students and alumni.
Participants can pick their own course, run the 5K or 10K options, or choose not to run at all. Since 2007, this UAB National Alumni Society race has raised more than $930,000 for UAB student scholarships.
