Kiersten Engel, a senior majoring in math and minoring in finance, ranked among the top 100 international scorers on the Bloomberg Aptitude Test (BAT). This distinction earned the New York native an invitation to the BAT Summer Intern Challenge, an exclusive networking event in New York or London that features renowned speakers in the finance and business industry.
The BAT measures students’ knowledge in eight key areas: math, analytical reasoning, analysis of charts and graphs, news analysis, economics, global markets, analysis of financial statements and investment banking.
Engel has served as a portfolio manager for the UAB Green and Gold Fund, a student-run investment fund with more than $550,000 in assets, and is an intern with R2 Macro in Birmingham. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career in designing and analyzing technical trading systems. Engel is also a dancer in her seventh season with the Alabama Ballet.
