The 2013 University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine Art Show will be on display on the first floor of the Lister Hill Library of the Health Sciences, 1700 University Blvd., from Feb. 28-May 17. An opening reception will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Feb. 28 to recognize the winners. The reception will feature a silent auction that will benefit VSA Alabama, the state organization on arts and disability. Physician/artist Don Stewart, M.D., will deliver special remarks on “Ars Medica,” the depiction of medicine through art.
The show will consist of artwork from students, residents and faculty of the School of Medicine. The works are judged by a panel of UAB faculty, staff and students. The top three winners receive cash prizes, and all entries are on display. This marks the 13th year of the art show.
The show is hosted by the Alabama Alpha Chapter of Alpha Omega Alpha and the Alabama Museum of the Health Sciences.
