Come learn the scoop on radon

Get the scoop on radon Jan. 16.

You cannot see, smell or taste radon, but it could be in your home. To better inform the public on the dangers of this second-leading cause of lung cancer, the Department of Environmental Health Sciences in the UAB School of Public Health and the Deep South Center for Occupational Health & Safety will host a free event, “Radon — What’s the Scoop?,” from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, in the Ryals Public Health Building, Room 407.

Beverly Jo Carswell from the Alabama Department of Public Health Office of Radiation Control Radon Program will share her knowledge on radon and talk about radon testing; home radon kits will be supplied. The program also is good for one nursing CEU.

Lunch will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis; beverages will not be supplied. Please RSVP to dsc@uab.edu.
