The UAB Red Mountain Writing Project will host the 21st Century Literacies Conference on Saturday, March 3, 2012, in Heritage Hall located at 1401 University Blvd. Award-winning authors and educators Sharon Draper and Kevin Hodgson will present and noted area teachers will conduct workshops. The focus is on K-13 Writing Across the Curriculum, Response to Intervention, Technology in the Classroom and Writing that Matters.
The conference is open to educators and pre-service teachers across the region. The cost is $65 and includes lunch. To register, go to www.rmwp.org to register for the conference.
The Red Mountain Writing Project, led by Tonya Perry, Ph.D., is a local affiliate of the National Writing Project; its mission is to provide a forum for teachers of all grade levels and content areas to study and develop innovative strategies for literacy instruction.
