The University of Alabama at Birmingham has been named one of America’s Best-In-State Large Employers by Forbes, ranking third overall and the top education industry employer.
“To be recognized by Forbes as a top employer in the state is a great honor. UAB is a special place to work and thrive,” said Janet May, chief human resources officer. “This is attributed to our faculty and staff who are dedicated to our students, patients, community and one another.”
America’s Best-In-State Employers 2023 have been identified based on an independent survey of employees working for companies employing more than 500 workers in the United States.
Alabama’s largest public employer and home of one of the region’s largest academic medical centers, UAB employs more than 28,000 people across its university and hospital entities, has more than 23,000 enrolled students, and has an annual economic impact exceeding $12.1 billion on the state.
