The University of Alabama at Birmingham Recreation Center is seeking to make water safety a priority in the community with swim school and private swim lessons.The University of Alabama at Birmingham Campus Recreation Center is offering swim lessons this fall to ensure families stay safe around any body of water. Based on American Red Cross curriculum, the swim lessons are designed to teach participants proper swimming techniques and swim safety skills ranging from ages 6 months old to adult.
New participants will be placed in an appropriate level within the course based on prior knowledge, experience and skill.
Two sessions are being hosted this fall consisting of six classes. Session one is from Sept. 9 through Oct. 14. Session two is from Oct. 21 through Dec. 2.
The cost is $80 for UAB Rec members or $90 for non-UAB Rec members. Payments can be made after the enrollment form has been completed, submitted and processed. After participants receive confirmation, payments can be submitted to Membership Services.
