University of Alabama at Birmingham, have earned him recognition as the latest recipient of the annual Distinguished Faculty Lecturer Award. This is the highest honor bestowed by UAB’s academic health center on a faculty member who has advanced the frontiers of science and made outstanding contributions to education, research and public service.
Casey Weaver, M.D.’s contributions as a scientist and mentor, along with his service to theWeaver, professor and holder of the Wyatt and Susan Haskell Endowed Chair for Medical Excellence in the Department of Pathology, was recently elected to the National Academy of Sciences. This is one of the highest and rarest honors open to scientists in the United States. Before Weaver, only two other UAB researchers had been selected for what many call the “science hall of fame.”
On April 12, Weaver will present the 2022-2023 Distinguished Faculty Lecture at the Hill Student Center Alumni Theater. Registration is free but required for attendance.
At UAB, Weaver is also a senior scientist in the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center.
