From left to right, Enina Egiebor, Vidhi Patel, Neha Moolchandani, Marianne Abraham, Dulce Perez, Bhumi Patel, and Maymunah HicksThe University of Alabama at Birmingham chapter of the Society of Women Engineers had seven members attend WE22, the world’s largest conference for women in technology and engineering, on Oct. 20-22.
The seven students were selected by the UAB SWE chapter and received stipends from the School of Engineering.
The students include:
- Neha Moolchandani, president of the UAB SWE chapter, received interviews from amazing companies for software engineering internships such as Goldman Sachs, American Express, Lockheed Martin and Amazon.
- Marianne Abraham, vice president of UAB SWE, was one of the few students to attend who received an interview with Medtronics.
- Enina Egiebor, a senior preparing to get her master’s degree in chemical engineering, networked and received guidance and connections from top universities.
- Bhumi Patel, sophomore.
- Maymunah Hicks, sophomore.
- Dulce Perez, sophomore.
- Vidhi Patel, freshman.
“Attending the conference was truly an honor,” Moolchandani said. “We were able to shine a spotlight on the engineering program at UAB and represent the school on a national level while also having the opportunity to take away great knowledge that we can pass on to our colleagues via workshops, for example, held by the organization and the School of Engineering.”

SWE was founded in 1950 and operates as a not-for-profit educational and service organization.
