WBHM 90.3 FM, a member-supported service of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, is “Your NPR Station” and home to the Alabama Reading Service for the blind and print-impaired. WBHM’s news staff has produced consistently smart reporting over the course of the year to earn this prestigious recognition, says WBHM Executive Director Chuck Holmes.
“The news team has been persistent in its pursuit of important stories,” Holmes said. “They’ve put in long days, and they’ve shown a firm commitment to delivering solid local news coverage to our audience on air and online.”
The Radio Television Digital News Association has honored outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Murrow set as a standard for the profession of electronic journalism. National winners, including Large and Small Digital News Organizations and Network News Organizations, will be announced in June.
