Legendary singer and songwriter Emmylou Harris, a Birmingham native, will perform Sunday, Nov. 5, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, presented by the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center. A limited number of tickets remain.
Harris is a winner of 13 Grammy Awards, three Country Music Association awards, two Academy of Country Music Awards, five International Bluegrass Music Association Awards, four Americana Music Association Awards and a Billboard Century Award; her contribution to music spans 40 years. She has recorded more than 25 albums, and her talents have graced countless fellow artists’ recordings. Known as much for her eloquently straightforward songwriting as for her incomparably expressive singing, Harris is one of the most admired and influential women in music.
“I look at my voice and my abilities as a gift,” Harris said. “I don’t feel that I can even take any credit for it, but it’s such a huge presence in my life. It is my life. It’s my identity, it’s everything. And it’s given me a great deal of joy and a sense of purpose — I can’t imagine my life without it.”

Harris performed “Gone, Long Gone,” “Blackhawk” and “Boulder to Birmingham.”
This year, in celebration of 25 years since her Grammy-winning album “At the Ryman,” she joined up again with the Nash Ramblers and performed the album in its entirety to a sold-out audience. The album was then released on vinyl for the first time.
